Emerging musicians from rural areas of Chile and Spain meet at GAM. In its second edition, the Trenzando 2025 Residency brings four musicians from Chile and Spain: Chilean artists Treko EKZ and Proverbio along with the Spanish duo Las Nietas del Charli, who will join national musician Bronko Yotte in a unique concert.
TheTrenzando Residencies are a program promoted by the ACTO Foundation, in collaboration with various Ibero-American organizations, whose purpose is to strengthen and make visible the work of emerging musicians from urban-rural areas. Through spaces for meeting, creation, production and cultural exchange, this initiative promotes artistic dialogue between musicians from Chile and other Ibero-American countries, celebrating cultural diversity and revaluing musical expressions with territorial identity. All, thanks to the collaboration of the Spain Cultural Center, Santiago (CCE Santiago) and What Is Music? (WIM) of the Movement for Free Culture Association and Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center (GAM).
The first phase took place in Spain, from July 18 to 26, 2025 at the WIM International Music and Arts Meeting, held in the medieval city of Frías (Burgos) where the Chilean musicians Treko EKZ (Alonso Cepeda) and Proverbio (Juan Muñoz) participated, along with María and Raquel Rubio Pastor, the two Spanish artists selected for the project.
The second phase will take place from September 1 to 6 at the CCE and GAM, Santiago de Chile. During these instances, the participants will work in different areas of their professional development, in addition to creating compositions and generating new collaboration networks, promoting the circulation and recognition of their artistic proposals inside and outside their territories of origin. It is celebrated and closes with a great concert with the resident artists and the national artist Bronko Yotte
At GAM, the 4 artists selected from the residency will be presented. A 26-year-old native of Llay-Llay, in the Valparaíso region, Alonso Cepeda is the rapper behind Treko EKZ and the albums “Archivo sin nombre” (2017) and “Nebulosa de emotions” (2018) with lyrics that fuse reflection, introspection, dance, sensitivity, poetry and theory.
At the head of Proverbio is Juan Enrique Muñoz, 31 years old and from Til Til, Metropolitan region. Linked to rap since he was five years old, he has released two LP albums as a soloist (“Idealexperience” 2020, “El Oráculo del Duende” 2024) and an EP (“Write, Record & Rodar” 2025). In addition, he is the founder of the Coliseo Norte Hip Hop Festival and the socio-educational project Hip Hop Escuela.
Las Nietas del Charli is the duo formed by sisters María and Raquel Rubio Pastor. Their project is situated at the crossroads between author songs, progressive folk and certain strains of acoustic rock, without responding directly to any label. In 2024 they published Faro, their first album with which they toured different cities and spaces in Spain.
They will be joined on stage by long-time Chilean musician Bronko Yotte. The artist is a language teacher. Bronko Yotte has also been the composer and producer of almost his entire musical history, and along the way he has reached radio stations and large stages, becoming one of the most striking and colorful names in Chilean hip-hop.
The audience on stage will see a diverse and authentic show, with live performances that combine the energy of rap, the sensitivity of folk and the depth of author's lyrics. "You will be able to see performances that highlight cultural and territorial identity, with a focus on genuine artistic expression, interaction between artists and the celebration of Ibero-American cultural diversity. In addition, there will be an environment of encounter, creation and artistic dialogue that invites you to connect with the stories and traditions of the communities represented," comments Evelyn Ortiz, general producer and programmer of Trenzando.
