Natalia Contesse

This January 13, Natalia Contesse will bring Tocatas Mil Agua, a concert that stems from her concern for the defense of Chilean rivers. Together with three musicians—Simón González, Patricio Rojas and Luis Barrueto—and guests such as Nano Stern, this acclaimed folklorist, composer and singer-songwriter will present part of her repertoire, a fusion of jazz, folklore and popular music that has established her as one of the most prominent artists on the Chilean scene, with more than 15 years of experience.

A tireless researcher of local traditional culture, Contesse has spent years collecting vestiges of the last living singers. In addition to having been a disciple of the great folklorist Margot Loyola, today she leads the Chilean School of Folklore and Crafts, in La Reina, inspired by the dream that Violeta Parra tried to make come true in the 60s. After being nominated for a Pulsar Award for her latest album, Diluvio —in which she rescued the African influence in the Chilean cueca—, and traveling through Argentina, Cuba and Mexico, Natalia Contesse is present in Santiago a Mil in one of the best moments of his career.
