Moebius

This is an opera without a central story. Moebius is built on evocations and memories. Thus appear some real testimonies of immigrants who participated in a project of the Cultural Center of Spain in seven countries.

Manuel Contreras Vázquez created the sound and literary space inspired by two mathematical elements: the hypercube and the Moebius strip, which gives its name to the opera. The space of abstract geometries also refers to these concepts.

The result is a chamber opera for 3 female voices and an ensemble of 12 instruments, which debuts with régie by Sidhartha Corvalán, set design by Laura Bisotti and musical direction by Gonzalo Venegas. The sopranos Nancy Gómez, Cecilia Barrientos and Camila García together with musicians from the Foundation of Youth and Children's Orchestras of Chile would premiere the opera at the end of August in the Valparaíso Cultural Park.
