One of the most important cultists of the Chilean cueca comes to 18 Chico GAM with her musical and family heritage and tradition.
María Esther Zamora is the daughter of the renowned folklorist Segundo Zamora—author of the cuecas "Goodbye Santiago Dear" (1942), "Send Me to Take Life" (1948) and "The Sailor" (1950), among many others—but her career goes beyond that. Constant host of Chilean stages linked to the genre such as “La Casa de la Cueca”, of which she is the owner. He has also been a performer of cuecas, tonadas, tangos, boleros, cha cha cha, waltzes and other popular rhythms; Together with the musician and singer Pepe Fuentes, they were one of the most active couples on the scene.
Zamora continues to be an influential figure in traditional Chilean music. This year he obtained third place in the Huaso del Olmué Festival, being further proof of his commitment and excellence in the art of cueca. "Their success inspires other artists to continue cultivating and promoting Chilean folk music," says a note published in the National Cultural Heritage Service.

María Esther Zamora has appeared twice at GAM in different formats. On January 11, 2017, she was with her husband, Pepe Fuentes, in concert for Tocatas Mil, from the Teatro a Mil Festival. In September 2019 (on the 15th and 29th), the theatrical concert "Life, passion and cueca of María Esther Zamora and Pepe Fuentes" was presented where part of their life was narrated on stage, with the presentation of the musicians at the end of the show as the highlight.
