Interferences 2: WATCHTOWER

The second date of Interferences 2 again brings experimentation and creative residency. Fernando Milagros, artist, theater designer, is one of the most prominent national singer-songwriters of his generation and returns to GAM with his project Atalaya, which unites him with the Viñamarino producer and composer Spec (Luis Gálvez, from the group Matanza).

The project, born in a pandemic due to Milagros' musical concerns and explorations, brings together the codes of electronics and South American folklore. Their first collaboration was captured in the song "Aguasanta" from the album Obsydiana (2022), and from now on they have continued the work with the EP La sed, in 2023. "Together they deepen a sound that they call 'glocal', based on acoustic timbres, root rhythms and voices that are filtered through technology and whose essential vocation is dance," he points out. Atalaya presents its residency at GAM as a convening experience, both for other invited musicians, as well as for the technical and artistic team that will support the visual and lighting design, especially created for the event. They say: "Our objective is to integrate and cross the disciplines of electronic and acoustic-folk music with the staging, in a theatrical manner, of an audiovisual show. We think of a concert with a visual script, as 360° as possible...". To which Fernando Milagros adds: "I have been wanting to integrate my musical side with my scenic designer side for a while and in this project I am just managing to develop a story that unites my two professions." 

On this new date of the Interferences 2 project, GAM seeks to innovate in the creation and staging of Chilean music. Musicians and artists carry out a creative residency days before the opening of the process in new spaces, with guests temporarily occupying the concert hall, the recording studio and also unexpected places.
