Interferences 3: Catherine and the Golden Bordons

The dictionary defines 'bordona' as "each of the three lowest strings of the guitar", and so a group with that allusion in its name will always be committed to the nobility of traditional sounds and a performance to match.

This has been the case of Catalina y Las Bordonas de Oro, a group that brings together young musicians who since 2022 have been building a growing audience thanks to methodical live work, highlighted by the impeccable execution of a repertoire that salutes the history of the bolero and the Chilean song at its roots. His two albums so far combine his own compositions with versions of old pieces by people like Francisco Flores del Campo and Vicente Bianchi.

Today the group has an authorized voice to sing, perform and also talk about the history of bolero in our country, especially after being winners of the Pulsar 2025 Award for Best Ballad or Romantic Music Album for "Presagio".

At GAM, the group will talk about the historical link between Chile and the bolero in a "sung conversation" which will alternate songs performed live, an interview with journalist Marisol García, and direct exchange with the attendees, invited to the BiblioGAM space specially equipped for the occasion.

The musicians maintain a widespread profession: Catalina Plaza worked on her low-register singing since her school years in Punta Arenas, where she grew up accustomed to the rhythms of Patagonia (chamamé, chacareras), and from where she arrived in Santiago in 2019 to pursue formal singing studies at Projazz. Martín Silva has accompanied dozens of important Chilean singer-songwriters on guitar, with extensive travel through Mexico thanks to his alliance with Mon Laferte. Pablo Castro has accumulated a rich resume as a singer-songwriter (under the pseudonyms Pablo Joaquín and Pablojarasca), composer, arranger and researcher. Adrián Muñoz has training in classical guitar and has been seen on stages with Laia and Dúo Pajarito, among others. And the double bassist Esteban Muñoz shows the passage (also as an electric bassist) through jazz, tango and symphonic music initiatives.

Interferences 3 is a GAM project where Chilean musicians intervene in corners of the cultural center and its programming, with freedom to design and articulate a creative proposal coherent with their current work in development, and presented as a unique experience and contact without hierarchies with the audience.
