The Chilean band, a pioneer in mestizo rock, ska and Latin rhythms, celebrates its 30 years of experience at GAM in a concert that will revive its greatest hits, such as its 1997 debut album, "Tumbao' Rebelde," and hits like "Tony Manero" and "Pega Fuerte."

Santo Barrio is an emblematic band of Latin ska and Chilean mestizo rock, formed in Santiago in 1995. With a proposal that mixes Caribbean rhythms, punk and urban sounds, the group established itself as one of the most representative of the mestizo movement in the Southern Cone.

Their career began strongly in 1996, when after the release of the video clip La marabunta, they obtained first place at the Balmaceda 1215 Young Band Festival. That same year they opened for Joe Vasconcellos, Pánico and Los Miserables, and made their recording debut under the Bizarro label, a subsidiary of Warner Music Chile, with the EP Tony Manero. A year later they released Tumbao Rebelde (1997), an album that combined ska, punk and salsa, marking a milestone in the local scene and earning them recognition from the Association of Entertainment Journalists (APES) as Breakthrough Band of the Year.

In 2001 they published their second album, Now is when, with the collaboration of prominent artists such as Anita Tijoux, Joe Vasconcellos and Lito Peral (Los Inkultos). That same year they made their first European tour, with more than 30 concerts in Germany and Holland. The album was reissued in 2002 by Sello Azul and distributed in Brazil, Mexico and France, highlighting the singles “Traigo el aguante” and “Didn't you like the sweet thing?”

His third work, Plan Maestro (2004), featured the musical production of Gelson Briceño and the participation of guests such as Joe Vasconcellos, Karrumba (Cholomandinga), Feliciano Saldías, Tea Time, Boomer and Horacio Blanco (Desorden Público). In 2010 they returned with The Letter Up Your Sleeve, which took them again to tour through Chile and Europe.

In 2016, Cristóbal González, drummer and founding member, published Tumbao rebel: El rock mestizo de Santo Barrio, a book that covers the history of the group and its contribution to Chilean and Latin American music. Later, in 2017 they released the EP Revienta and took a break in their career.

In August 2024, Santo Barrio announced his return with his historic lineup to commemorate his 30-year career. Their first presentation at Bar El Clan quickly sold out, marking the beginning of a new stage that reaffirms their legacy as one of the most influential bands of Chilean ska and mestizo rock in the region.
