A night of music and poetry will be this release of the Canto de helechos EP, the result of the collaborative work as a duo of Natalia Cortés (on vocals) and Santiago Valenzuela (on guitar). A musical journey of six poems by Chilean authors extracted from the Helecho comun collection, from Editorial Banca de Helechos.

The presentation of the EP materializes a national interdisciplinary artistic work, which connects the poems of six literary authors (Elvira Hernández, Daniela Catrileo, Victoria Ramírez, Nadia Prado, Leonor Olmos and Angélica Panes) with the music created by two composers.

The six songs on the album have been composed by Natalia and Santiago, and will have minimalist instrumentation, mainly the guitar played by Santiago and Natalia's voice. Additionally, in two of them, a piano played by pianist Nicolás Pimentel and other sound details will appear.

The project had a precedent in GAM: in December 2022, the first presentation of both artists was held at BiblioGAM, setting to music “Travel Letter”, a text by the National Literature Prize winner, Elvira Hernández.

Nata Cortés is a singer-songwriter, performer, vocal pedagogue and actress. In 2013 he released Ando Como Canto, a compilation album of Latin American folklore resulting from a trip to various countries in the region. Over the years he has been a vocalist in different groups, exploring sounds ranging from Latin American fusion and urban music to boleros and neo soul. In 2023 he began to publish his original repertoire with the singles Te di and Claridades, where he combines an intimate sensitivity with Latin American influences and contemporary textures.

Santiago Valenzuela is a Chilean singer-songwriter and actor. He has two published albums, Reivindicando cicadas (2020), with 12 original songs, and Téngase present (2022), which brings together 8 songs of his authorship. His lyrics are usually crossed by reflections, doubts, criticism, games, pain and a certain touch of irony and humor. He has composed music and songs for theatrical works such as “Corazón de Carbón”, for the La Mancha Theater Company (2010) and for the audiovisual series Valentina discovers the brain (2022).

For this event at GAM, the musicians will present their creations loaded with emotional power in an intimate concert that is both collective and sensitive, according to what they say.
