IMUC August concerts

EL, the Ensemble Taller de Música Contemporánea will perform "El desvarío del puntador" (2016) by Pablo Aranda. Participating will be Nancy Gómez (voice), Fernanda Ortega (piano), Karina Fischer (flute), Eduardo Spinelli (clarinet), David Núñez (violin), Héctor Méndez (cello), Gerardo Salazar (percussion), directed by the composer Pablo Aranda himself. After the performance, there will be a conversation led by members of the Contemporary Music Workshop, Silvio Ferraz and guests regarding the interpretation of the contemporary repertoire.Tuesday August 4

On you will be able to hear "Acrylic" (2014) by Marcos Franciosi, in a concert held in Argentina the year of its premiere. It is performed by the Thin edge new music collective (Canada), made up of Ilana Waniuk (violin), Chelsea Shanoff (saxophone), Cheryl Duvall (piano), Laura Ventemiglia (piano), Nathan Petitpas (percussion), and directed by Valeria Martinelli. In addition, "Frida's Letters" from Marcela Rodríguez's Opera de Toilette will be performed, "Suggestion of least resistance" by Iris ter Schiphorst and scenes from the operetta "Geschichte" by Oscar Strasnoy made in Germany.Tuesday August 11

The Concert called Beethoven and His Time will be offered. The tenor Rodrigo del Pozo, together with the musicians Verónica Sierralta (harpsichord), Karina Fischer (flute), Guillermo Lavado (flute), Liza Chung (piano), Tiffany Tieu (violin), Celso López (cello), Luis Alberto Latorre (piano) and Gerardo Salazar (timpani), will perform Haydn's "Bright Look" and "Oh Melodious Voice", "March of the Priests" and "The sound is so wonderful" from Mozart's The Magic Flute. They will end with Piano Sonata No. 31 op. 110 and the piano trio version of Symphony No. 2 op. 36 by Beethoven. Beethoven's Ninth Symphony "Coral" will be performed, with the Orchestra and Choir of the Catholic University, directed by Maestro Eduardo Browne. In this version, recorded in December 2018 at the UC Extension Center, the soloists are soprano Tabita Martinez, mezzo-soprano Claudia Lepe, tenor Brayan Ávila and baritone Cristián Lorca.Tuesday August 25
