Banda Purreira seeks to bring the Latin American roots and sounds of the world closer to children and their families. From the Coquimbo region they present their new creation called Caleta de Canciones at GAM. A playful show, which incorporates elements of dance and theater.

The prominent national composer Chicoria Sánchez, together with the musicians Pola Castillo and Inti Sánchez, give life to the group that was nominated for the Pulsar Awards in the Music for Children category for their first work Purreira (2014).

To date, they have toured various festivals and fairs such as Famfest, Gustock, World Music, Vitacura Book Fair, among others.

Caleta de Canciones is the new work of the band based in the Elqui Valley since 2020. With this new production they consolidate the link with the artistic and creative communities of the Coquimbo region.

The band Purreira brings to GAM an interdisciplinary show for children and families. A journey of fun stories and tales, with original music of Latin American roots with sounds from around the world, which through dance, theatrical elements and live music invite you to play and enjoy.

“In my adolescence in Mozambique, the term “purreira” was used as an expression of something good and positive, like saying great, great, great, deadly. How was school? Purreira! How was the movie? Purreira! How did it go with that girl? Purreira!!!”

— Juan Antonio "Chicoria" Sánchez, album description Purreira (2014).
