Beatriz Pichi Malen

Argentine by birth, Beatriz has dedicated her artistic work for more than 30 years to the search, rescue and dissemination of the culture of her town, Puelmapu, or Argentine territory.

Her singing, in the language of the people of the Mapuche land, has taken her around the world, giving talks, conferences and performing on stages in France, Spain, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Sweden, Belgium, Brazil, Uruguay, the USA, Canada and recently at Womad Festival, Pulsar Fair and the Lollapalooza Chile Festival.

There is Beatriz's intention to bring ancestral music to the 21st century, because for her it is necessary to make that memory known in the present. That is why he has acoustic works with trompe and kultrun, but also with bronze instruments. He has shared the stage with Ana Tijoux and Calle 13, because he assures that youth demand to know their own roots. He has also sung "El Guillatún" and "Arauco tiene una Pena" by Violeta Parra with translations in Mapudungun.
