It seems like magic. The theremin is an instrument that sounds without physical contact with its player. His sound is also curious, a mix between voice and strings, as if Jerry was making fun of Tom when he pretended to be a classical musician. On screen he has been played by Jerry Lewis and Sheldon Cooper and he returns to GAM as the master instrument of the second edition of Electromagnetics: International Theremin Festival.
Five concerts, two open classes, a talk and a jam session allow the public to discover the wide possibilities of the theremin in just three days. On Friday the 7th, Chilean Agnes Paz and Dutchman Thorwald Jørgensengive the opening concert. On Saturday the performance is performed by the Chilean Felina Noiz and the Esqueletos Negros together with Romina Tironi (6 pm), and by Martín Benavides together with the Italian Vincenzo Vasi (9 pm). On Sunday, the Dutch Jørgensen returns at 6 p.m. along with the Chilean Cristián Torres and the closing is performed by the Chilean Raw-C and the Peruvian Veronik, who performs original psychedelic rock compositions for theremin.
Jørgensen is a renowned classical performer who will also give an open theremin class for the general public on Saturday, after Torres gives a technical and historical talk about the instrument. On Sunday Veronik teaches a class for children and then Vincenzo Vasi stars in a jam session. Additionally, on Saturday and Sunday there are documentaries on the subject on Lastarria 90.
