This project is an ephemeral testimonial installation, which investigates the territorial memories of residents of the San Borja Remodeling, from performing and visual arts practices. It is presented at GAM within the framework of the Publics Month, organized by the Publics and Territories Unit of the MINCAP.
The performance Inhabiting the House consists of a tour of different modules that evoke spaces and atmospheres linked to the personal utopia of the home and the history of housing, through personal elements, documents and testimonies.
"The public will attend a scenic installation, where they will be able to tour different spaces and listen to various testimonies. In it they will be able to link themselves to a piece of co-creation with citizens, where the invitation is not to witness a play, but to approach different voices, through the visual arts and archives and personal objects," says the director of the project, Omar Morán.
Attendees will be part of an experience where we are presented with different subjectivities and presences of a contemporary community that reflects on the way of living in the past, inhabiting the present and imagining the future of our neighborhoods and resistance to gentrification.
For the creators of Habitar la casa "the idea of a shared neighborhood and community is at risk, not only due to the economic and public policy changes of recent decades, but because the paradigms that support the way we inhabit our spaces have been transformed, pushing relationships towards individualism."
In this way, collectively asking ourselves about the history of a neighborhood emerges as a "possibility of delving into the cultural composition of a territory, where the effects of real estate exploitation, tourism and social changes push it to disappear."
