From Brazil comes the tenth show of the Tercer Abstracto company, which fuses theater, dance and mathematics. Directed by Chilean David Atencio, the work is inspired by Latin American manifestations where the human figure acts as a mobilizing agent within social architecture.
A show that is articulated from the gesture of the performers in composition. Human figure is a Brazilian production, premiered in São Paulo, as a result of the doctoral research of David Atencio, diagrammer-director of the work, who explores from artistic practice as research, in a theatrical model that crosses art and science, which he calls "diagrammatic theater."
Inspired by the photographic archive of Latin American demonstrations, with special emphasis on the social outbreak in Chile in 2019, the work mixes these references with the idea of celebration and carnival. Thus, it proposes a poietic relationship between protest and celebration, between war and celebration, exploring how these dynamics transform both individual bodies and structures, whether social or artistic.
"One of the central challenges was to insert academic research into a fully artistic context. Here, the artistic form of the show is not dissociated from the research, but rather articulates it directly, proposing to the viewer an active role, of a researcher, capable of analyzing, recomposing and transforming as the show develops," comments David Atencio, director.
The work integrates various artistic genres—theater, dance and performance—along with a mathematical logic present in its structure. Using these tools, it proposes a reflection on how the human figure acts as a mobilizing agent within social architecture.
