HARIMAGUADA

The Harimaguadas, coming from the Canarian aboriginal society, went down in history for being guardians of the sacred and fitting into the feminine model of the colonial culture that invaded the archipelago. This myth left out of the historical narrative those who were not considered pure, those who resisted, those who worked the land, those who were enslaved, those who survived the silence. All of them become resignification in an artistic work that is also an act of memory, a scenic rite that vindicates the presence of women in tradition and re-imagines their voice in the present.

This interdisciplinary project is a pictorial, sound and historical sculpture show by Ángela Glezal and Belén Álvarez Doreste (LAJALADA), where the stage becomes a space for shared creation: while the music explores new forms based on island folklore, the live painting is projected in large format, offering the public a sensory experience in which sound and image.
