In a near and bleak future, a group of artists gather to die. Without yet deciding how, they bring references of deaths to rehearse, again and again, the way to end the meaninglessness of their lives. In that insistence, something arises between them that sustains them to live.

In the midst of a global climate, food, water and migration crisis, eight artists come together to plot how they will die. Faced with the fear of failing, they relentlessly simulate death, delaying the irreversible act of death. What could keep them alive?

This fiction is the starting point of Fundamento, an interdisciplinary montage that addresses the question about the value of artistic creation in building the future and that explores its deepest affections around death and the meaning of living.

What is a future without creation like? Who are we if we stop creating? These are some of the questions raised by this play in which representatives of theater and dance participate on stage, such as Monserrat Ballarin, Daniella Santibáñez, Elizabeth Rodríguez and Rodrigo Pérez, among others.

The piece, directed by actress Adriana Stuven, is articulated from choreographic frames that present a circular dramatic progression that repeatedly shows the same situation: the rehearsal of a death.

Fundamento is a work to vindicate the human act of creating, to honor what is in the shadow, the shadow of the future. It is an act of rebellion that saves us from meaninglessness and death, using our bodies to at least imagine a better society.
