Fish don't fly for boys and girls

It was in Chile, Spain, France, Norway and Taiwan, was seen by almost 30 thousand people, had more than 180 performances and won more than 10 awards. 2009 The fish don't fly marked the celebrated debut of the company La Mona Ilustre. Now, its adaptation for family audiences comes to GAM.

In Fish Don't Fly for Boys and Girls the stories intersect. On the one hand, there are two opposite sisters, one a dreamer and the other a practical one. One wants to build a machine that flies, the other works in a production company. Here comes a young man who dreams of being an actor and who will fall in love with one of the sisters. That young man left behind the circus where he lived with his father, who continues to fight to maintain the family tradition. And all of them are characters in the story that Lucrecia writes.

This adaptation includes the stories and images of the original, but adds a narrating voice and reduces the text and duration. Its characteristic playful staging is maintained, with theater of objects and puppets. They make it possible for the scene to be seen from above, to move from below and for some things to even fly. The integral design of the assembly is by the Chilean Eduardo Jiménez and the direction is by the Spanish Miguel Bregante.
