White Dwarf

The white dwarf is a star that has exhausted its energy and dies silently, without exploding. What would happen if the atomic bomb had suffered the same fate as a white dwarf? What if, instead of wreaking havoc, it remained silent, locked in a room, and then became a display piece in a future museum?

That is the question explored by White Dwarf, the Virtual Reality work that intertwines the story of the construction of the first atomic bomb by theoretical physicist Robert Oppenheimer, with the story of Sadako Sasaki, a girl who survived the bomb explosion, who suffered serious consequences and ended up transformed into a symbol of the innocent victims of war.

Macro and micro stories intertwine in a minimalist setting, while the cosmic memory journey through history evokes the freedom of traveling with light. Acclaimed director Yolanda Markopoulou challenges audiences to participate in a holistic experience that extends the virtual to the physical world and vice versa.
