The LEC group (Latido en Clave) is made up of 25 members from different areas who began as beginners in the casino wheel room and who over time have perfected this style to perform, among other things, classes at GAM every Friday for almost 80 people who seek to learn salsa, bachata and other Latin American rhythms.
Latin Dance Community Interventions
- Dancemotion USA Travels Program: The Contra-Tiempo dance company, part of DanceMotion USA, came to GAM as part of its trip through South America. An international Latin urban theater and dance group, which relates to the public by showing social and cultural gaps in a progressive way, in order to reflect how artists function within communities. During his visit to the cultural center, he held a salsa de Rueda workshop for the GAM Latin Dance Community; specifically to the official members of the LEC group.
- Dance Day: Thousands of people around the world celebrate International Dance Day, which, every year since 1982, has been celebrated at the initiative of UNESCO to bring this art closer to the public. In GAM it has been commemorated since 2011 with a free intervention in squares, of which some of our communities are interpretations. Latin Dance Community, has been part of it on more than one occasion with great popularity, reflected in the attendance at the event; like the successful participatory flashmob of 2015.
The communities that come to GAM organize autonomously among themselves and carry out different activities, from rehearsing, doing workshops, or just meeting, always in our squares, which we lend them to carry out their different demonstrations. In addition, during the year we work with several of these groups in activities extra to those they generate.
As they are self-employed, we do not have contact with them because they change, but we can recommend you come especially on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, where they are dancing in the squares, and ask them all the questions.
