Tinsel

Tinselis a choreographic investigation about the daily experience of living in a neoliberal system, where the overvaluation of the image and overexposure of the body are placed as the central axis. Tinsel, which means fake gold, questions precisely the universe of appearances and the place that the body occupies within this economic model, whose modes and rhythms of production are transferred to the stage. A powerful reflection on the structures that build and dominate our reality.

Directed by the outstanding choreographer and dancer Carolina Cifras, this contemporary dance show features a cast of performers with different experiences and training, such as theater director Rodrigo Pérez, actor Johnatan Inostroza and choreographer Javiera Peón-Veiga, among others. Furthermore, the format used is the scenic installation that unites visual arts with the performativity of dance.

This proposal, winner of the 2016 Fondart, is the last part of a trilogy by Carolina Cifras about life in neoliberalism, after 2010 (2008) and Pampa (2012).
