The stubborn night

In his first Chilean work, Rotemberg delves into the topics and style that he developed in La idea fixa, but to go much further, addressing a raw look at the coldest and most violent sex, with pop and learned music and dancers demanding the maximum and dressed to the minimum.

The work, which was inspired by the Spandex parties of the early '90s, became a portrait of that moment, of the illusions and shadows of the time: darkness, sex, partying and violence, bodies in lycra, naked, beaten, devastated, exposed and linked in a brutal way.

Seven dancers are challenged in this work, which demands a lot of strength and sweat on their part. They were chosen in an open call, to which more than 100 applicants attended.

The soundtrack that guides them includes Cecilia, Queen, Liza Minnelli, Barry Manilow, Julia Wolfe, Mika, along with learned music compositions by Shostakovich and Mirzoyan.

Previous seasons

The Obstinate Night premiered on July 25, 2014 and continued with performances on The Best of GAM in February 2016 and a season in December of that year.

In addition, it was part of the Costa Rica Arts Festival, presenting in April 2018 as part of the GAM content circulation program to other regions.
