THE MOVING or the songs of my tongue

“The songs of my language have eyes and feet, eyes and feet, muscles, soul, sensations…”. The phrase is from Pablo de Rokha in his poem Ballad. Fifty years after his death, that poem inspired Georgia del Campo to create LO MOVIENTE or the songs of my language.

What does De Rokha's poetry talk about and how does dance dialogue with that? What can dance do that poetry can't and vice versa? These questions guided the creation process, which also considered Henri Bergson's ideas about the continuity of movement and change as a transformative constant.

On stage, these ideas are translated into Bergson's continuity and De Rokha's repetition and corporal imagery. The result does not have a movement sequence, but rather improvisational structures that will unfold function by function. The poem is not present literally, although its singing is part of the basis of the sound, worked with voice and electronic processes by José Miguel Candela.
