Swayambhu

Swayambhu: that which occurs spontaneously, that which appears out of nowhere. In Sanskrit, this word refers to a stone or rock whose shape resembles the features of some deity, such as Ganesha, the elephant-headed god, or Shiva, the king of dance.

The award-winning dancer Shantala Shivalingappa, born in India and raised in France, brings that concept to bodily movements, becoming an artisan-alchemist who seeks to give a physical dimension to the term.

With this agile and luminous Kuchipudi dance show, typical of southern India, one of the most famous exponents of this art form arrives in Chile, a creator who, in addition to performing on important stages around the world, dazzled figures such as the choreographer Pina Bausch and the playwright Peter Brook, who invited her to collaborate with them.

Dancing to live music, Shantala Shivalingappa attempts to bring to life through her body the nature of reality: an infinite field of unity, fluidity and energy, where each element is polished, tuned and cared for to reach pure expression. Swayambhu takes shape through the magic of alchemy.
