A woman yells at a man who is stoning a duck. The case is the focus of this dance theater production by Australian artist Nicola Gunn. A work that, from this simple incident, delves into the scope of human behavior.
A foreign woman goes out for a run and stops when she sees a man stoning a duck, while her children collect more stones for him to continue throwing. How did she react and what else could she have done? These are some of the many questions that this woman asks herself in front of the public, along with digging into the possible options and putting herself in the shoes of everyone involved: from the man to the duck. And while it does so, it never stops moving.
Piece by Person and Ghetto Blaster, something like Piece for person and radio cassette player, is a one-person dance theater work with concept, text, direction and interpretation by Nicola Gunn; and choreography by Jo Lloyd. The montage follows Gunn's tireless movement and his ramblings, full of reflections and micro-stories.
The production premiered in 2015 in Australia, where it received three awards and was featured in the British newspaper The Guardian as one of the 10 most outstanding Australian performances by women of 2016.
