Machine of glory and oblivion

Machine, of glory and oblivion is a work of contemporary dance and performance whose artistic-cultural approach is based on a choreographic journey that transits between verticality and fall, between memory that resists and the silence of abandonment. The work embodies the Florida, Mariposas and Monjas elevators of Valparaíso. Metallic bodies that rust with the passage of time, but that still throb in the collective memory and that is precisely where this choreographic piece explores the intersection between material heritage and emotional memory, since industrial elevators, more than machines, are living archives of a port that was erected in dialogue with its vertical geography. The work investigates the physical resonances of capillary suspension, weight, traction and gearing, translating mechanical logic into bodily scores.
