Pablo Zamorano premieres a work that proposes a journey through independent dance from its origin in the country to the present, addressing both the established bases and the subjectivity with which they are interpreted.
Trio 65 marked a milestone. It was in 1965 when Carmen Beuchat, Rosita Céliz and Gaby Concha formed the first independent contemporary dance group. The story that began then and continues today inspires Flight Practices, a work directed by Pablo Zamorano.
"We stage the origin of contemporary dance in Chile and different historical events. Carmen Beuchat, Patricio Bunster, Colectivo la Vitrina and Centro de Danza Espiral, among others, have built the foundations and visions of the work of the performers-collaborators who make up this work.Practices of flight is a tour of different passages in our history of dance, dance and movement, dance in the word, in the gesture, the dance in our memories and in our bodies that condition us as an inexhaustible material of sociable practices, hence its name,” says the director.
The work addresses the relationship between the collective and the individual, between academic dances and the subjectivity with which each body interprets them. "It has been established as a laboratory of encounters and disagreements with the body. A look at the person and their relationship with the collective, at the subject as creator of a meaningful discourse through movement and personal experience," explains Pablo. Betania González and Francisco Bagnara are part of the nine performers of the work, sponsored by the Center for the Creation of Choreographic Studies, CIEC.
