Passion, satire and human relationships are some of the themes that Fanáticos addresses, a work that comes to GAM for the first time after its time at Teatro La Memoria in FITAM. Five performers take the stage to show the exaggerated passion of a world where people defend multiple truths, believing that the end justifies the means. What do they really defend among so many ideas? This is what the public will try to figure out.

Between pleasant and memorable dances, the performers touch on theater, using scenic resources that confront contemporary dance with representation. All of this, within a kind of television set or studio that is never finished being built and that reflects the irony of human relationships incapable of coexisting, crossed by the screens of the 2000s.

"The project proposes the challenge of representing fanaticism but not as such, but through satire. A fanatic body that constitutes a critique of ourselves in the face of the constant struggle between individuality and the need to belong," comments Bruce Gibbons, playwright.

According to the media Culturizarte, this work "questions and confronts the paradox of the search for meaning where the truth is multiple and fragmented. Plataforma MONO manages to capture the complexity of fanaticism from its meaning, not as an external and determined phenomenon, but as an intrinsic and mutable condition of our humanity, where irony and contradiction are inseparable from experience. The work leaves the viewer in a state of continuous questioning, where the only certainty is uncertainty."

Inspired by the text “Against Fanaticism” by Amos Oz, the work arrives precisely in times of geopolitical changes marked by denialism and a kind of crisis of truth. "And it offers us a space for introspection and enjoyment, where each viewer is free to interpret and reinterpret, to search and lose themselves in the multiplicity of meanings and non-meanings that the work proposes," Culturizarte proposes.
