One hundred years after the birth of Pierre Boulez, French composer and conductor who was a fundamental figure of the 20th century, the UC Contemporary Music Workshop, directed by Pablo Aranda, pays tribute to him at GAM.
Within the framework of the 61st UC Chamber Season, the UC Music Institute celebrates the legacy of the founder of IRCAM with a program that includes two of his works, which will be performed by UC Music professors.
Luis Alberto Latorre will perform one of his most iconic creations: Douze Notations pour piano (1945), and then Karina Fischer will join him to address Sonatine for flute and piano (1946).
Subsequently, members of the Contemporary Music Workshop Ensemble and guests will address two works by young Chilean composers who were born within the 1st La Pintana 2025 Social Music Composition Competition, which paid tribute to Pierre Boulez in flute and string trio format.
The work that won first prize will be heard: 2B, tribute to Pierre Boulez by Danilo Buenante (1997), student at the University of Chile, and the finalist work A lofarby Diego Musalem (2001), composer trained at the UC Music Institute.

The Contemporary Music Workshop Ensemble directed by Pablo Aranda, and guests, pay tribute to the famous French composer, director and intellectual in the 61st UC Chamber Season. On August 26 and 27, at the Oriente Extension Center and at GAM, Luis Alberto Latorre will play the 12 Notations for piano and will be joined by flutist Karina Fischer to play the Sonatina. Works created in 2024 by young composers Diego Musalem and Danny Buenante will also be heard.
