For the second consecutive year, GAM will host two days of the XXV International Festival of Contemporary Music of the University of Chile.
This meeting, organized by the Department of Music of the University of Chile, will have two essential figures for these days. This is the case of the Vila Quartet, made up of four outstanding Chilean performers who are in charge of the entire program on Tuesday the 9th, where they will present music by Pedro Humberto Allende, María José Valenzuela and a quintet by Alfred Schnitke together with the pianist Jorge Pepi. In addition, they are in charge of performing the work that won the contest organized by the Festival for string quartet, a distinction that went to "Certain transmissions of energy", by Diego Newen González.
On Wednesday the 10th, in addition to a first part of works selected by call, there will be the presence of the two international guests of this meeting. Firstly, "Maqueta n°2" will be performed for saxophone quartet by Argentine Marcos Franciosi, who in addition to this work will hold master classes and workshops for composition students during those days. In the second half, the Greek pianist Ermis Theodorakis will perform, who will perform a repertoire of essential artists of the genre such as Arnold Schönberg, Luciano Berio and Iannis Xenakis.
