A concert that covers the music created for Chilean cinema, from the cultural resistance of the 80s to the new cinema of 2000. Along with an outstanding ensemble, compositions from films by Caiozzi, Littin, Gaviola, Larraín, Lelio, Albala and others will be performed, integrating testimonies from directors and highlighting the link between image, sound and identity.
From the video “Candelaria” made almost clandestinely by Silvio Caiozzi to great blockbusters such as “Fuga” by Pablo Larraín, “Una mujer fantastic” by Sebastian Lelio or “Pacto de fuga” by David Albala, there exists for the composer and director Juan Cristóbal Meza, a common line: the search for identity and the intimate relationship between image and music.
With this premise comes Music in Chilean Cinema (1986-2026) From Underground to Netflix, a concert led by Meza along with an ensemble that will perform the musical compositions made for these films.
In addition, testimonies from the directors will be projected at the event, sharing their vision of the role of music in their productions.
The repertoire includes music from the films of Silvio Caiozzi (Candelaria, Tale of a Lonely Oak), Miguel Littin (Dawson Isla 10, Allende), Joaquín Eyzaguirre (Dolores), Tatiana Gaviola (Teresa), Pablo Larraín (Fuga, Tony Manero), Sebastian Lelio (Una mujer Fantastic), Claudio Di Girolamo (18 de los García) and Augusto Góngora (The Forbidden Children). Songs composed for series and films will also be performed with Camila Moreno and Francesca Ancarola.
