Workshops: the rebellion of voices 2024

Compost Workshop in Residence. Border Accompaniment | 3 to 5 p.m. | Room C1

An accompaniment with the methodological exploration of the Espacio Fronterizo collective, where in each session we concentrate on a text, to raise the needs of the writer, dialogue against the Border and the practice of dramaturgy. Every day Espacio Fronterizo and its members will make available their creative methods and ethics to provide intimate, horizontal and professional support. Compost in Residence is an invitation to offer writing in response to the practice of reading and listening to the works that will be part of the La Rebelión de las Voces residency.

Espacio Fronterizo is an area of informative and research meetings between those of us who write for the living arts, which proposes a collective accompaniment of 8 national playwrights: Marcia Césped Laplechade, Bruce Gibbons, Manuela Oyarzún, Isidora Stevenson, Catalina Bize, Juan Pablo Fuentes, Gonzalo Araya and Bosco Cayo, who will be directing attention towards the very interior of the theatrical event and its writing, of the works selected in The Rebellion of Voices, to look at and ask ourselves about their liminality, forms, voids, differences, times, territories, cartographies, identities, memories, doubts and authorships. 

Workshop Getting something out of nothing, with Andrea Jiménez | 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. | Room C1

This workshop aims to be a framework in which playwrights, directors and creators of all kinds can explore their intimate connection with the creative act in a context of freedom and play in order to find or develop their own artistic language. Through games, improvisations and triggers of different kinds we will delve into the writing and gestation processes typical of contemporary creation, which require a constant back-and-forth path between direction and dramaturgy, but also between the intimate and the collective, the word and the action, the accident and the decision, the intuition and the method.
We will generate individual and collective scenic pieces, texts, seeds of projects, creative synergies, with the aim to continue expanding the limits of what we consider probable, possible or imaginable in a scenario.

Andrea JIménez is a director, playwright, producer and actress. He has created numerous theater shows for institutions such as the National Dramatic Center, the Teatro de la Abadía, the Teatro Nacional de Catalunya, the Centro Dramático Galego, or the Teatro Circo Price, and his work has been seen in national and international theaters and festivals, such as the Autumn Festival, the Grec Festival, the Be Festival or the Edinburgh Fringe, among others. She is the founder of the multi-award-winning company Teatro En Vilo and Ojo Crítico de Teatro 2019. Her works include Casting Lear, Mal de Coraçon, Hoy puede ser mi gran noche, Man Up, Generación Why or Interrupted. Andrea investigates the intersections between fiction and reality, truth and lies, theater and performance, combining irreverence, humor, research and a constant renewal of scenic and aesthetic language.
