Workshop "How to criticize a movie"

Objectives of the workshop:
- Distinguish aspects of cinematographic language.
- Obtain necessary tools to analyze a film.
- Distinguish elements that define the quality of a film.
- Provide basic tools to begin a film-loving and critical activity.
- Show images that illustrate each of the film dimensions covered by the workshop.

Aspects that the workshop will address:
- Review of art cinema billboards, film clubs, extension centers.
- Review of the opening credits.
- Learn to observe a film from how it is constructed.
- Observe what elements are repeated and how that coincidence establishes a discourse.
- Basic concepts of cinematographic language: types of shots, forms of montages.
- Review of who the director is, their career, achievements and if your filmography, this establishes a continuity by genre, concepts or commercial impact.
- Review the awards that the film that we are going to criticize has.
- Understand that films are not a riddle, etc.

Leopoldo Muñoz
Journalist and film critic. He has written about cinema since 1994 for Las Últimas Noticias, El Sábado Magazine of El Mercurio, Qué Pasa Magazine, Cosas Magazine and the site www.mabuse.cl. He is also a correspondent, working at the Valdivia Festival, the Viña del Mar Film Festival, the Cannes Festival and the Bafici. He has been a Jury at Fipresci: Festival des Films du Monde, Montreal 2007.
