Workshop on Approach to Puppet Language

Teatro y su Doble has been developing the language of puppets as a theatrical expression for 18 years, bringing different authors to the stage in successful productions such as El Capote, Sobre la Cuerda Floja and Feos.

For the company, having the impression of seeing life in an inanimate object, whatever its form, continues to exert a power over people that is difficult to define. Currently it has become an effective resource in different extra-theatrical fields, such as in education, in the therapeutic field, in conventional and differential education programs, in rehabilitation processes and as a didactic means of prevention in risk groups, among others.

In this workshop the history and evolution of puppets in Chile and the world will be reviewed. In addition to its meaning and importance in different cultures, techniques, creative processes, etc. This allows us to guide, approximate and expand the public's vision of the genre and its infinite possibilities.

Finally, through the dolls and complementary audiovisual material, their use and manipulation techniques will be explained, while questions from attendees are resolved. Through shared impressions and experiences, we seek to make known the possibilities and scope of this language, seeking to motivate attendees to experiment and explore on their own in this activity.
