CHILEMONOS has decided to present a unique class on the indisputable value of women in Latin American animation. An opportunity to learn about the art of the region in the hands of three very important women in the stop motion technique and in the Mexican film industry, both commercial and independent: Sofía Carrillo, Rita Basulto and Karla Castañeda.
Sofía Carillo, current festival participant, will tell us about her experience as animation director of one of her most recognized works, “La casa triste” (2013). Another of the 2014 participants for the festival was Rita Basulto. On this occasion, he will show us his experience of around 15 years; and finally, Karla Castañeda, the winner of the best Latin American short film of the year 2013 with “La Noria” (2012), will be present.

Sofía Carrillo: She is a Mexican director, specialized in the stop motion technique. His works have participated in more than 50 notable competitions around the world. On this occasion, Sofía will present for CHILEMONOS her work as an art director, which usually has a bizarre, fantastic and very dark touch.
Rita Basulto: Art and photography director of Guadalajara. She is known for co-producing the short film “Zimbo” (2015) with Juan José Medina. For more than 15 years, he has been working with the stop motion technique. For CHILEMONOS, Rita will tell us about her career in Mexican animation.
Karla Castañeda: She is a Mexican director who has participated in several stop motion animation productions. It was awarded at the Guadalajara International Film Festival in 2008, obtaining the Ariel award five years later and also the Best Short Film category at the Biarritz Latin American Film Festival in France with the animated short “La noria” (2012).
