Vinyl Day 2025

Vinyl Day is an international celebration that emerged in the city of California. This day, lovers of vinyl culture come together to carry out various meeting and promotion activities for the sale of this format. In Chile there have been 3 editions of Vinyl Day and this year the IV edition of the meeting will be held, the largest to date, in the central plaza of GAM. It will be an open and free event that will have stands selling records, exclusive releases, live music, record signings and conversations.

What began in 2022 as an initiative by Discos Kolala and Vinilo Garage, will be strengthened in 2025 with the incorporation of prominent players in the national industry, such as the vinyl factory Selknam Records, the record store Punto Musical, and the support of the multinational labels Sony Music and Universal.

Those who come to the cultural venue will be able to enjoy an interesting offer of vinyl, among which are those from Aula Records, the record label that operates under the auspices of the University of Santiago and stands out for the publication of scholarly and contemporary music recorded by artistic groups that belong to said house of studies. At noon on Saturday the 9th in Room C1, there will be the launch of “El deflagrador”, which corresponds to a work performed by the national composer Valeria Valle and performed by the Usach Orchestra under the direction of Francisco Núñez Palacios. The conversation includes listening to the album and a meeting with the author.

“El Deflagrador” took inspiration from the famous novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury and was conceived during the social outbreak that began in October 2019. According to Aula Records, the music of the work constitutes “a soundscape of winds, tubular bells and percussion”, forming a set of “scabrous, atmospheric and fascinating music”.

In addition to the Aula Records offer, more than ten exclusive releases are planned for this celebration. For example, the LP version of “La Sangre en el Cuerpo” by Los Tres (1999 album but which for the first time will be available outside of a box set); “Peces”, the debut album by Lucybell (1995); the classic “La Medicina” by Los Tetas (1998) and the reissue of “Canción de Lejos” by Los Bunkers (2002), this time on red vinyl. In addition to the release of celebrated albums from the independent scene such as “LOZA” by Niña Tormenta, “El día libre de Pólux” by Chini.png and more titles.

The independent labels Fisura and Uva Robot join the event, providing diversity and expanding the musical richness of this day.

The fair is possible thanks to collaborative work between stores, labels, collectors, the national vinyl factory Selknam Record Pressing, Punto Musical and an entire community of people who keep this format alive, from production to distribution," the organizers add.
