GAM turns 14 in September, and to this end, the Linkage and Mediation area, in collaboration with the School of Sociology and the Social Transformations Laboratory of the Diego Portales University, will hold meetings to reflect and debate the history of UNCTAD III and its social relevance.

In alliance with the School of Sociology of the Diego Portales University and the Laboratory of Social Transformations, we will reflect on the historical memory of the building, built in 1972 to host the UNCTAD III Conference, and the role it played in global debates on the economic relations of the international system. The agreements left by this meeting will also be analyzed, where how to overcome poverty was discussed, in the midst of a changing world scenario.

The activities will be:

Mediated Visit "The architecture of popular development": Saturday, August 31 at 12 noon. From Plaza Central GAM.
This guided tour highlights architectural, artistic and historical aspects, with a special focus on the UNCTAD III conference during the Popular Unity Government and the global intellectual debates on development that converged there. This tour will be conducted by Paulina Varas, Juan Cristóbal Cárdenas and María José Henríquez, three academics with extensive knowledge of the artistic, theoretical and geopolitical aspects, respectively, that have to do with the historical memory of the building. In addition, there will be the GAM team of mediators.
Colloquium "Internationalism and Development: Reflections 50 years after the declaration of the new international economic order" Thursday, September 5 at 7 p.m. Room C1.
This table will have the participation of Luciana Cadahia (UC Institute of Aesthetics), Karina Nohales (Feminist Coordinator 8M), Alexis Cortés (Department of Sociology, Alberto Hurtado University), José Miguel Ahumada (Institute of International Studies, University of Chile). The moderator will be Dorotea López (Institute of International Studies, University of Chile).
