A man who decides to leave his environment to occupy a recognizable and abstract space and turn the relationship he establishes with strangers into an aesthetic fact while investigating the possibility of being another. For five days in a row he will talk or write in his new place in the almost permanent presence of the public.
The Russian artist Ilya Kabakov once said: “The house is thus a device of memory, it evokes memories, it summons ghostly entities.” The unconscious is also populated with ghosts. Not only memories, but also things we have forgotten are 'stored' there. The soul is a dwelling place. By remembering houses and rooms we learn to look inside ourselves.”
Fernando Rubio used these words to create The Time Between Us, the second part of a trilogy of works that begins with When We Were Boys and ends with And Everything Else. Spectators will be able to share with him numerous situations within the framework of a variable agenda of activities and rest such as attending dialogues with different intellectuals, watching films or listening to music. Rubio's idea consists of dismantling a person's customs and turning the gesture into a work, to reflect on the way we inhabit time and space, emphasizing the links we establish with what surrounds us and their potential consequences. By exhibiting change as a way of recognizing what is left behind, it attempts to recover the memory of our transformations.
