The rebellion of the voices 2017

This will be an instance of training and exhibition of world-class artistic proposals, particularly in the field of writing, through activities that include the presence of the French author Samuel Gallet and the Swiss Lukas Bärfuss.

The meeting includes the premiere in Chile of two international works, developed by the Chilean company Teatro Público and by the Argentine director Cecilia Bassano, whose dramatries correspond to Gallet and Bärfuss, titled “El Hambre y los Sueños” and “Paraty” respectively. Thus, a new platform for experimentation is opened, where the exposition of European realities finds echo in a new Latin American rebellious voice in the presence of its authors.

In a training area, “The Rebellion of the Voices 7” contemplates the writing workshop “Writing Dreams” by Gallet, a Masterclass on contemporary dramaturgy, taught by Bärfuss. There will also be a performance of the Swiss's latest creation, titled “Mrs. Schmitz”, by the Chilean company La Fulana Teatro, in a process that will be accompanied by the playwright himself. After the performances, conversations open to the public will be held, which will address the relevant themes of the texts and their implications, correspondences and analogies in the dialectical scenario of the meeting of two continents.

About the authors:
Samuel Gallet (1981). Playwright and theater director. His works have been staged mainly in France; translated into English, Spanish, German, Turkish, Czech, and dramatized regularly on France Culture radio. Winner of the Villa Medicis Hors les murs scholarship from the French institute, to work on contemporary Chilean political theater in 2014, working in Santiago with the Teatro Público company. Since 2015 he is co-director of the dramaturgy section of the ENSATT (National School of Theater in Lyon). His texts are published in Editionnes Espaces 34 and his work “Comunicado n°10” was presented in Chile at the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center (GAM) in September 2015, within the framework of the Edec 2015 festival, European Dramaturgy Meeting.

Lukas Bärfuss: He was born in Thun, Switzerland in 1971. Since 1997 he has dedicated himself to independent playwriting in the city of Zurich. Together with Samuel Schwarz he founded the theater group 400asa. Recognized for putting the hottest social conflicts in the spotlight, considered one of the most successful German-speaking playwrights. In 2003 the prestigious magazine Theater heute named him “playwright of the year”. Among his most notable works are: The sexual neuroses of our parents, The bus, The test, Oil, Málaga. His works have been translated into more than 20 languages ​​and he has been recognized through some of the most important awards in German-speaking literature: The Berlin Literature Prize in 2013, the Swiss Literature Prize in 2014, and the Nicolás Born Prize in 2015.
