The art of Japanese prints: Reflection of traditional Japan and inspiration from manga culture. Free conference that will address the culture of Japanese “ukiyoe” engraving during the Edo period. The Spanish expert David Almazán visits Chile thanks to the collaboration of the Japan Foundation.
The activity, co-organized with the Embassy of Japan, is aimed at both lovers of traditional Japanese culture and those who want to learn about the background of manga and anime, among other aspects of current Japanese culture.
About David Almazán Tomás:
Art historian from the University of Zaragoza and Graduate in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the UNED.
He is a professor at the University of Zaragoza, where he teaches East Asian Art and African Art and teaches classes in the Master of Advanced Studies in Art History and the Specialization Diploma in Japanese Studies.
Among her most notable publications are the books Japan: art, culture and water (2004), Japanese prints (2007), The Japanese Woman: reality and myth (2008), Japan and the World today (2010), Yoshitoshi: One Hundred Aspects of the Moon (2015) and Hokusai: One Hundred Views of Mount Fuji (2016), Hokusai: Abridged Drawing Manual (2017), Frank Lloyd Wright: The Japanese Print.
