Teatro Niño Proletario and GAM invite young people between 18 and 22 years old to the “00:59 seconds of your life” contest. 

In the current context of health contingency, the “00:59 seconds of your life” contest is proposed. for short film projects. The aim is to tour the country and take a decentralized view to listen to those who want to tell how they are experiencing the current health and social crisis from various parts of the territory.

Who can participate?

Young people between 18 years old (on the date of publication of these rules) and a maximum of 22 years old. Residents in regions of the country other than the Metropolitan Region and who can use a cell phone to record videos, who have editing possibilities and who want to participate. * Only one entry per contestant will be accepted.

Genre and themes

Send your short films telling a real or fictional story, with the narrative style you want (documentary, comedy, drama, clip, musical, video dance, animation, etc.) and that falls within one of these three thematic lines:

Inclusion and people with disabilities

Short films that tell stories, starring or created by people with disabilities (physical, mental, intellectual or sensory).

Equity and Gender

Short films that tell stories, star or are created by people who feel identified by the broad spectrum of the LGTBIQ+ community and/or make reference to gender equality in our country.

Future

Short films that tell us how you imagine Chile post-pandemic.

Audiovisual treatment

You can use all types of recordings made with your cell phone or video camera. Moving images, animations and audio track; however, all resources used must be original.

We only ask that you don't use:
1.- Fragments of films, TV series, advertising and/or songs by national or foreign artists. You will only be able to do so if you have the rights that we will request when submitting your audiovisual work.
2.- Images of minors without the consent of their guardians, as well as images or information that may provide private data of you or a third person (telephone numbers, addresses, passwords, etc.).
In case of using dialogues in a language other than Spanish, they must be subtitled.
3.- GAM or Teatro Niño Proletario, in this call, reserves the right to leave out of competition works that are considered contrary to the values of each institution. This includes videos that contain attacks, threats, or intimidation of third parties.

Duration

The short film must last a maximum of 00:59 seconds, in its entirety. Longer works are excluded.

Where should you send your short film?

Each contestant must fill out the online form.
In this form we will ask you some information to get to know you and you must also attach your short film.
The format to attach it must be a viewing link corresponding to the platform you choose (youtube, vimeo, google drive, etc.). If you have an access code, remember to provide it. We do not recommend sending files through wetransfer or other delivery formats as they are platforms with an expiration date or that possibly exceed the weight limits we require. 
If your short film is selected, we will request the original material in high definition. The winners will be announced through the social networks of GAM and Teatro Niño Proletario.

Reception period

Until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2020.

Selection criteria and conditions of these bases

The Teatro Niño Proletario company and GAM will preselect 15 short films nationwide and the official jury will choose a winner for each thematic axis. The jury will evaluate originality of the script, artistic treatment, technical treatment and relevance to the axis to which it is applying.

Jury and awards

The jury will be composed of: Catalina Saavedra, Actress / José Luis Torres Leiva, Filmmaker / Edison Cajas, Filmmaker / Natali Navarrete, GAM Artistic Management Coordinator.
The jury will choose a winner for each thematic axis. Each of the three winners will receive:
$300,000.- liquid pesos and invitations to all 2020 premieres in GAM digital productions.

  • The winning short films will be broadcast on the digital platforms of the Teatro Niño Proletario Company and the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center.
  • The authors of the participating short films transfer the exhibition rights to both institutions, who may use them in all their media for the purposes of dissemination and/or promotion, registration and annual report.
  • Sending the material automatically implies acceptance of these rules and includes authorization for GAM and Teatro Niño Proletario to use the records for the purposes of disseminating future contests, reports and promotional management instances. 
  • The young winners must participate in press and dissemination actions by GAM and Teatro Niño Proletario related to the promotion of this contest.
