The meeting, organized jointly by CONICYT, through its Explora Program, and the Gabriela Mistral Center, GAM, seeks to promote the learning of sciences, through languages typical of the performing arts, in high school students in the Metropolitan Region.

The danger of extinction of the piure, the adventures of the Pincoya, a dying coastal ecosystem and the protection of humpback whales, are just some of the stories that young theater companies will personify this year, in the fourth version of the School Festival of Theater and Science, FETyC 2017.
The schoolchildren were inspired by the theme of the Explora Year 2017: “Oceans”, to talk in their drama about popular Chilean legends around the sea and also about ecology and preservation of species. There are 106 students, who come from establishments belonging to the communes of La Pintana, Maipú, Independencia, Lo Barnechea, La Florida, Conchalí and San Miguel.
The productions were written, produced and acted by these young people of secondary education. To this end, the teachers who will be the directors of the play were trained in scientific content and also in direction, dramaturgy and theatrical pedagogy. In turn, the students received training in character creation, lighting and sound, assembly and technical production at GAM.
