"Why is urban music important? A view from the social sciences"

The expression “urban music” is used by various actors (musicians, audiences, journalists), but it lacks a consensus on its meaning and is loaded with prejudices. How to understand this concept and what underlies it? We will explore its relevance to express and construct the subjectivity of a generation in the contemporary situation of Chile.

“Dance and Public Space: Mapping the bodily experience of dancing in the street”

From a phenomenology of the body, the process of body-spatial co-construction developed in a contemporary dance work that takes place in the Plaza de Armas of Santiago is addressed. To do this, “Cartographies of the Body Experience” are created that show the emotional connection established by the interpreters of the work with the Plaza de Armas. This visual and transdisciplinary proposal opens the discussion on how corporality in movement transforms and makes urban spaces visible.

“Performance, Technology and Sexuality in Cuban Female Reggaeton”

Lalau Yllarramendiz Alfonso - Pianist, Musicologist, Musical Educator, candidate for Master's Degree in Latin American Musicology at the Alberto Hurtado University.

This paper examines Cuban reggaeton produced by women, focusing on the artists La Diosa and Malaka, in order to analyze how performance and digital marketing use the body and sexuality as positioning strategies. Based on theories of gender, performance and technology, it is revealed how these artists build personal brands and challenge social conventions in the music industry and on social networks.

“Cultural Mediation and Sense of Belonging: Intergenerational Experiences in the Citizen Orchestra of Santiago”

This paper explores how intergenerational experiences in community orchestral contexts can contribute to the development of a sense of belonging and cultural mediation, using the Santiago Citizen Orchestra as a case study.
