“Overflowing the museum: Production of the common through cultural mediation”

This is the exposition of a process that opens questions about the implications of fleshing out the paradigm of cultural democracy in the field of mediation in the museum context; its tensions, resistances and changes. Taking as a case study the Salvador Allende Solidarity Museum and in particular its Huertx Escuela program, the management of power and the associative potential of and with communities for the construction of new imaginaries of transformation will be problematized.

“The museum as a laboratory: an approach to the experience of public museums in Chile”

This paper presents a summary and a critical reflection on the execution of the “LAB_Museos: Museums and Contemporary Museology” project in its two phases developed between 2020 and 2023. Based on the preliminary results of an interdisciplinary and participatory research model, focused on processes of co-production of knowledge about museums and contemporary museographies, it is proposed, first of all, to highlight the central role of workers in the museum sector in the processes of self-reflection and transformation institutional. Secondly, the dialogues between museums and universities promoted by LAB_Museos are explored, analyzing how these institutions can collaborate to build new models of knowledge production and establish themselves as more democratic, inclusive and territorially relevant spaces.

Polyphonic presentation that narrates stages, processes and impacts of an interdisciplinary and tri-state project, which involved students, academics and officials of the University of Chile together with two educational communities of the Metropolitan Region, in which they developed ecosystem creation and regeneration projects based on the approach of science fiction as a pedagogical key.

“Museum, neighborhood and regeneration: challenges of theory and practice”

Since the beginning of 2024, the Mirador Interactive Museum incorporated the Regenerative Culture Program into its permanent programs and with the collaboration of the Siemens Foundation, Germany. The main objective: to contribute environmentally, socially and culturally to the configuration of healthy ecosystems in the territory near the museum. From the implementation of this program, a series of results arise from the work carried out by teams composed of various disciplines, in addition to different challenges that enable a space of interest and debate for cultural institutions.
