A new cycle of conversations begins, which this time will focus on the territory. They will be virtual and curated jointly by GAM and different municipalities.
The social tensions experienced in New York are similar to those experienced in Renca and Paris. This has been experienced by those who have been working in those territories for years and who will participate in this conversation: Mauricio Celedón, founder of the Teatro del Silencio company, based in France who worked for years with the community of Renca; together with Ángeles Donoso and César Barros, academics and activists based in the United States. It will be moderated by Cuca Arriagada, Renca's culture manager.
The new cycle of Alameda Abierta, organized by GAM since the Chilean social outbreak of 2019, will begin in conjunction with the Municipality of Renca, to inaugurate a space for dialogue on socio-cultural problems that promotes the visibility of decentralized views on culture in the context of quarantine by Covid 19.

Ángeles Donoso Macaya is a professor at BMCC/City University of New York (CUNY), a researcher and activist in New York, where she collaborates with different organizations dedicated to the defense of the rights of migrants; He accompanies the courts and facilitates civil rights workshops, among other tasks. Her research and teaching areas include Latin American visual culture, human rights and memory studies, production and circulation of counter-archives, and feminisms; He has published several articles on these topics. She is the author of the book The Insubordination of Photography: Documentary Practices under Chile’s Dictatorship (2020) and co-editor of Latinas/os on the East Coast: A Critical Reader (2015). |

César Barros A. He is a professor, researcher and activist in New York, where he collaborates in different organizations dedicated to the defense of the rights of migrants; He has developed popular education programs and given workshops on civil rights in different neighborhoods of the city. He has focused his activism on investigating the relationships between the criminalization of immigration and big capital. César is also a full professor at the State University of New York, New Paltz. His research focuses on the relationships between visual culture, capital and coloniality. He is the author of the book Scenes and obscenes of consumption (2013) and numerous academic articles and curatorial texts. Together with Amanda Sommer, César and Ángeles collaborate in the collective Somoslacélula. Under this name, they create video-essays that respond to urgent issues and reflect on the political situation in Chile and the USA. His video Tactics of Solidarity in the Era of Mass Deportation is part of the digital archive of the Ecologies of Migrant Care of the Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics. |

Mauricio Celedón, disciple of the great master of pantomime Marcel Marceau, has worked in the commune of Renca due to his interest in reaching places that for decades have been marginalized from opportunities and spaces for creation. In the commune he worked on a parade that denounced the exoduses of entire communities that seek to cross borders to live with dignity. And on October 18, 2019, it generated a parade that sought to support the demands for equity that mobilized people in Chile. |
