The Laika studio has been nominated for the Oscars for each of its animated films, due to its meticulous work with puppets and the detail in each of its works. The fantasy and horror captured in the feature films make the production company's work stand out and prevail over giants of the animation industry such as: Disney, Pixar and BlueSky Studios.
Laika celebrates its 10 years of experience and arrives in the midst of this celebration to the sixth CHILEMONOS International Animation Festival with a master class led by Mark Shapiro.
In this master class, Mark Shapiro will present in detail behind the scenes of the four films produced by Laika: Coraline (2009), ParaNorman (2012), The Boxtrolls (2014) and its most recent release Kubo y la Samurai Quest (2016). Knowing in this way, the complete production processes and the critical elements that exist when creating an animated feature film in the studio.

Mark Shapiro: Marketing strategy manager at the Laika studio, where he has managed the production company's corporate identity and the company's feature films since his arrival in 2007.
Born in Seattle, he attended Emerson College in Boston and received his Bachelor of Arts at Colorado College, complementing his education at Lewis & Clark College in Portland. Shapiro has worked in brand development, advertising, public relations, film production for companies such as Nike, Town & Country Magazine and Upper Deck.
