The power of music lies in its lack of fixed meaning. Drawing on Susan Langer's idea of music as a "language of feeling," Studio Minailo reframes opera not as a text-based drama, but as a visual art shaped by sound. Through synesthesia and perception, the workshop explores how music forms images and why, in musical theatre, images are often more eloquent than words.
Sjaron Minailo is an opera and musical theater director, curator and educator whose work expands the boundaries of the operatic form. Through Studio Minailo, his artistic platform, he creates experimental productions and research projects that fuse music, visual arts and new technologies. His practice challenges textual notions of opera, exploring sound, image and perception in live, digital and interdisciplinary formats. Minailo has collaborated with major opera houses, festivals and arts institutions internationally, while mentoring emerging artists and developing innovative approaches to contemporary musical theatre.
