Alameda Abierta: Participation and digital divide

The new Alameda Abierto conversation cycle continues live and through Facebook, organized by GAM and in conjunction with different municipalities, which seeks to learn about decentralized perspectives on culture in the context of quarantine.

On Tuesday, September 1, at 5 p.m. under the title: Participation and digital divide, the third conversation of this year will take place in conjunction with the Municipality of Puerto Montt.

In this space for dialogue on socio-cultural problems, guests will be the actress and member of the Teatro Chile/No company, Patricia Cuyul; the sociologist and director of education of the Chile País Digital Foundation, Catalina Araya; the philosopher and teacher in cultural studies, Yenny Chaverra and the executive director of the Puerto Montt Cultural Corporation, Marcelo Utreras.

The panelists will share their experiences and places of resistance, to discuss the construction of public policies, culture as a right, inequality in its access and the need to generate mechanisms to ensure the participation of its citizens in it.

In the conversation they will ask how we face the socioeconomic exclusion of the globalized world that is worsening in a pandemic? And what are the key actions to develop to ensure effective participation?

This third “Open Alameda” will be moderated by Cecilia Ananías, journalist and general director of the NGO Amaranta, an organization that focuses on gender violence projects in digital spaces.

Marcelo Utreras  Specialist in public management, Director of the Puerto Montt Cultural Corporation and the International Theater Temporaries since 2013. In 2015, the organization of the event was honored by the Chilean Academy of Fine Arts with the Agustín Siré Award, given the relevance of the festival in the Latin American context.

Yenny Alexandra Chaverra Philosopher, with a Master's Degree in Cultural Studies from the Universidad de los Andes (Colombia). She is Coordinator of the Memory and Circulation Group of the Directorate of Audiovisuals, Cinema and Interactive Media of the Ministry of Culture of Colombia in the line of circulation of audiovisual and cinematographic content, film festivals and audience training, from where she coordinates the Free VoD digital platform to watch Latin American cinema Retina Latina www.retinalatina.org.

Cecilia Ananías Soto, Journalist and Master in Communication Sciences. She is the general director of the NGO Amaranta and one of the coordinators of this organization's Aurora Project, focused on gender violence in digital spaces.
