More than 300 people attended the launch of the GAM 2016 Artistic Programming, including artists, playwrights, journalists, communities and the general public. The 2016 curatorial line will commemorate the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes and will highlight national authorship in theater.
With a preview of Happy End, the musical by Bertolt Brecht, Kurt Weill and Elisabeth Hauptmann, the launch of the programming began, an event that brought together guests from the public and private spheres, renowned artists who have performed and will perform at GAM, along with cultural and public managers belonging to the GAM communities.
After 12 noon, the meeting began with the welcoming words of the Director of Communications, Ximena Villanueva, on behalf of the GAM Board of Directors.
Later the cast of Happy End, directed by Álvaro Viguera, sang a piece from the production that will premiere in March at GAM and where Gloria Münchmeyer, Bastián Bodenhöfer, Gabriel Cañas, Elvira López and Geraldine Neavy, among others, perform.
Once the presentation was over, it was the turn of the Director of Programming and Audiences, Javier Ibacache, who presented the works from 2016, among which stand out 32 national theater, dance and music creations that will be premiered; the celebration of 50 years of independent dance in Chile and a season of family programming focused on indigenous peoples.
He also highlighted that during the summer the Lo Mejor de GAM cycle will also be programmed and the Quilicura Teatro festival will be held within the framework of joint work, which will extend throughout the year, with the new cultural corporation of that commune.
