The Museum of American Popular Art (MAPA) completely takes over the spaces of the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center (GAM) to celebrate Heritage Day. This Saturday, May 30, we invite you to experience a unique day full of color, history and tradition around the fascinating exhibition "Made in China".

Below, we present the complete program of free activities that will transform GAM into a cultural bridge between Chile and the East this Sunday, May 31:

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Passport to China: A journey of exploration through art

A playful and participatory experience designed especially for boys, girls and their families, directly inspired by the “Made in China” exhibition. Through different free exploration stations in the MAPA Room, participants will be able to play, create and discover the secrets of the exhibition through artistic and sensory activities. Each little explorer will receive a “passport” that will guide their interactive adventure, encouraging imagination and heritage discovery.

3 to 3:30 p.m. | Lion Dance: Music, color and tradition

The mysticism and energy of oriental culture will flood the halls of the GAM with the presentation of the group HoZik. Through movement, color and the vibrant sound of drums and cymbals, this ancient discipline that fuses music and martial arts will bring to life the mythical Lion, responsible for driving away evil spirits and attracting good fortune. The parade will run through part of the cultural center to culminate in the MAPA Room as a great closing milestone of the exhibition.

3:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. | Traditional Chinese Music Concert

As a finishing touch to the closing of the Made in China exhibition, the foyer of the GAM plinth (Building B) will welcome the Chinese Traditional Music Association. Attendees will be able to enjoy a solemn and emotional concert, with a repertoire masterfully performed on ancestral instruments such as the erhu, the pipa, the guzheng and the zhongruan.
