International Seminar on Cultural Policies for the Performing Arts

With the participation of national and international guests, the first International Seminar on Cultural Policies for the Performing Arts will be held between March 31 and April 1, organized by the National Council for Culture and the Arts (CNCA). 

In this first version we will seek to know the state of the situation in Chile and enrich the debate through the experiences of Spain, Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia and Argentina. In addition, it aims to serve as input for the improvement of the Performing Arts Policy, which is in the design and development stage by the CNCA.

From Spain there will be the presence of Pablo de la Cruz, from the Circulation Program of Performing Arts Shows in Spaces of Local Entities (PLATEA), belonging to the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports; and Cristina del Moral, head of the Department of Cultural Cooperation and Promotion of the AECID, who will address the internationalization of the Performing Arts through public institutions. The president of the International Committee of the Iberescena Program, Juan Meliá, will participate from Mexico, who will present the various state and private financing sources.

Also part of the list of guests are Marielos Fonseca, director of the Mélico Salazar Popular Theater and part of the Ministry of Culture and Youth of Costa Rica; Linna Duque, coordinator of the Theater and Circus Area, Arts Directorate of the Ministry of Culture of Colombia; and Marcelo Allasino, executive director of the National Theater Institute of Argentina, who will give an overview of the implementation of the National Theater Law and how the State supports the promotion and development of the Performing Arts in his country.

The objective of this meeting is to contribute to the construction of Public Policies, through a dialogue that promotes a broad debate about the actions developed in the Performing Arts, in various Ibero-American countries. It seeks to establish itself as a space for critical reflection, where successful experiences in the world can be debated.

The presentations will focus on exposing cases that have managed to energize the Performing Arts, addressing challenges such as sectoral legislation, professionalization, audiences, associativity, among others.

This seminar is held within the framework of the 10-year anniversary of the Iberescena Program and will feature the participation of representatives of the 13 member countries: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay, along with the representatives of the Ibero-American General Secretariat-SEGIB, the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation-AECID and the Technical Secretary of Iberescena.
